Yin Yang Yoga is a style of yoga that combines the principles of Yin yoga and Yang yoga, which are two complementary styles of yoga.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that emphasizes holding passive poses for an extended period of time (usually three to five minutes or more) to target the deeper connective tissues in the body, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. It is often described as a meditative “non-doing” practice, and it aims to increase flexibility and circulation while promoting relaxation and mindfulness.

Yin yoga is stable & unmoving, where the practitioner allows letting go to happen (both physically & mentally) and simply “melts” into the poses. Yin yoga teaches us to slow down in the hectic pace of our everyday lives and to how to be in our bodies without moving, without fidgeting. Being still. Accepting the present moment just as it is. We could call this also as surrender.

Yang yoga, on the other hand, is a more dynamic and active style of yoga that emphasizes flowing movements and muscular engagement to build strength, stamina, and flexibility. It is often described as an energetic practice, and it aims to balance the body's physical and mental energies. Yang type of practices are often done with a vinyasa style which links movement and breath. When deep rhythmic breathing is integrated with the movement, the practitioner can experience a calmer mind and on the physical level, an increased heat in the body and therefore find more access into the poses. We will explore different breathing techniques like Ujjayi-“ocean breath”, which is used in Yang yoga styles like Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. We will get to experience and to understand the real transformational power of our breath. Using the breath the right way can transform a Yang yoga practice into a meditative experience where the mind is “left on the shelf”, and the body flows intelligently from one pose to the other. The Body-Mind will feel a burst of new life force and a clarity of mind.

In Yin Yang Yoga, practitioners combine these two styles of yoga in a single practice, usually by starting with Yin postures and ending with Yang postures, or vice versa. The practice aims to balance the body's yin and yang energies, promoting overall health and well-being.

The Curriculum

In this Yin Yang Yoga Teacher Training, we will first & foremost ask the foundational question: “What is Yoga?” as especially in the West we seem to have gone quite far from the “Real Yoga” as it’s practiced today. “Yoga” is often translated as “union”. However, do we understand what this “union” means? We’ll have some serious discussions – we’ll strip right down our understanding of yoga and look at what the ancient yogis had to say about it all. We’ll give some flesh on your yoga bones. We’ll talk about the history of yoga and how it bridges to our modern day yoga.

We’ll discuss some ancient key scriptures. We’ll learn about mantras and the yoga of sound. We’ll discuss & contemplate; what our responsibility is as yogis/yoginis on this planet.

We will study the foundations of Yin and Yang yoga: This may include an overview of the history and philosophy of Yin and Yang yoga, as well as the benefits and differences between the two styles. Anatomy and physiology: An understanding of the musculoskeletal system, connective tissues, and fascia, as well as how Yin and Yang yoga can affect these structures. Meditation and pranayama: Techniques for cultivating mindfulness, concentration, and relaxation through meditation and breathing. Techniques and sequencing: A comprehensive exploration of the Yin and Yang yoga postures, how to teach them, and how to create balanced sequences that incorporate both styles. Teaching methodology: Strategies for effective communication, cueing, and adjustments, as well as how to create a safe and inclusive environment for students of all levels.

Overall, Yin Yang Yoga training program aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of both Yin and Yang yoga, and how to effectively teach these styles to students of all levels. Our sincere wish is to offer you something which may start to open up some doors to a deeper level of curiosity and understanding. Warning – this training may be a transformational experience.

The training is designed for…

  • Yoga teachers who want to support their classes with a deeper understanding of eastern philosophy

  • Yoga teachers who want to develop their classes in a unique and authentic way
