Join world-renowned yogis Ashtanga teacher Kino MacGregor and Tim FELDMANN for a 5-day immersion in beautiful Bali. Deepen your knowledge of this time-tested, traditional method while establishing a personal practice and a foundation for your journey as a yogi. Each day will include a Mysore-style or guided Ashtanga practice, a workshop, meditation, and a philosophy discussion/Q&A.

Kino and Tim teach in an intuitive way that comes through when they meet you - the practitioner - tailoring the sessions, asanas, discussion, and flow of the course to suit the unique energies of the group.

Knowledge of the Ashtanga Yoga primary series, ideally established in a Mysore practice up to Half Primary is recommended.

Yoga is a daily practice that demands our full devotion before we can begin to even scratch the surface of its deeper meaning as a lifelong spiritual path. Kino &Tim leads you through a discussion of key elements of the sacred, foundational text of yoga, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Written more than 2,000 years ago the teaching of Patanjali is composed of 195 Sutras organized in four books and holds the essence of the eight-limbed path of Ashtanga Yoga. Tim & Kino pursues yoga philosophy as a means to truly understand daily asana practice and modern life. By exploring the basis of physical yoga postures and methodology for spiritual learning in the Yoga Sutras you will delve deeper into the process of self-realization, the true intention of all hatha yoga.

 

Day 4 | Saturday | November 26

09:00 - 11:00 | Ashtanga Breakdown

Dive into a detailed exploration of the Ashtanga Yoga method starting with the foundational principles of practice in the Primary Series. Break down key principles and poses in a perfect mix between theory and application. Perfect for all levels, new students will find a warm welcome to this ancient tradition and old students will leave with a fresh look at the lineage and practice.

 13:00 - 16:00 | WORKSHOP | True Strength

The powerful strength-based asanas and transitions of the yoga practice are often intimidating and difficult to practice. Join this session to tap into your natural strength as Tim & Kino shares the techniques and tips that she uses to develop and build strength. You will leave this session with a methodological approach to strength that will transform your practice.

True strength is rooted in the spiritual lessons of the practice and moves far beyond brute force. Explore everything from lift-ups to inversions to arm balances from a radically new perspective and leave with real tools to apply in your practice and in your life. Appropriate for all levels.

 

Day 5 | Sunday | November 27

09:00 - 11:00 | Ashtanga Yoga Full Primary Series

Surrender to the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method with careful emphasis on the traditional vinyasa method and have fun along the journey. Experience the integrity and purity of the Ashtanga Yoga practice and be prepared to sweat.

 13:00 - 16:00 | WORKSHOP | Backbends

Opening the spine is about balancing and calming the nervous system. Working through good technique you will leave this session with a better understanding of how the joints in your spine work to bend your back while boosting overall health. Whether you feel naturally flexible or totally stiff, this is a great class to dive deeper into backbends!
16:00 - 17:00 | Closing meditation, photos, and snacks.

Tim is the co-founder of the world-wide recognized Miami Life Center and of the newly opened Miami Yoga Garage - a new ambitious Shala and cultural house in Miami's fun Wynwood district. He has practiced yoga since 1994 and Ashtanga Since 1999. Authorized to teach by Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois he explores core concepts and modern boundaries of Patanjali’s yoga teachings alike.
