If you do what you love, you're going to work your butt off every day. - Johny Hendricks

On May 19, we will have our annual New Moon in Taurus, the first in a while that is not an eclipse. New moon, new ideas and manifestation. At the end degrees of Taurus, we’ve got to set those new ideas in place and ground them. The time to move is upon us, to create a strong plan for true independence and self-reliance. Our hero’s journey gets a burst of motivated determination in the midst of high friction energy. We remember to prioritise needs then wants, and take time to feel gratitude for the simple, wholesome pleasures we enjoy. Money can’t buy happiness but it can buy good meals, a comfortable home, and time to relax with loved ones.

Taurus, Fixed Earth, is the second sign of the zodiac, the stubborn bull that shows stamina and determination. Ruled by Venus, it enjoys the good things in the material world, and the Moon loves it here and feels really special. The mood is changing gears though so we’ve got to remember what secure stability we feel in our bodies here so we can remember what it’s all for.

And what does the sky advise about this Taurus new moon of 2023? This lunation, we are invited to dream big yet remain firmly grounded in what we decide we need, and make a realistic plan to achieve it. Immediately after, we will face a big challenge yet the universe is also providing help so we have to be alert to ask when we need it and notice when it’s there.

Preparation, research and truth will be required, unbury the hidden, face it all now. We can use our brains to struggle against past disappointments, old debts, and the unknown obstacles. We create a new future with hard work rather than get into fights, lost in fantasy or drown in fear, or shame. The energy is very powerful so we must be focussed. We must narrow down the options and instead of overthinking, we keep cool, objective, and determined.

This month is hugely important in 2023 as it is so full of big energies, letting go of the old, prioritising a plan for the new, and choosing to move towards what will last a very long time.

The season is turning so dig in patiently and get ready to innovate, Radiantly Alive!

On May 6, we will have our Full Moon in Scorpio, 9 minutes after a penumbral lunar eclipse, where the moon will be a little darkened by being right next to the earth’s shadow. It is a time of decisions and a mark of culmination around money matters, relationships, and what we couldn’t understand or didn’t say before. The Sun in Taurus makes us happy with the simple, physical things in life, slow and conservative. Opposite, the Moon in Scorpio is intense and emotional, focusing on the mysterious. We want to enjoy the good things in life yet we must face some issues which have made us feel moody, jealous, or very critical. This is the security vs transformation or mine-yours polarity.

So what does the sky advise this Scorpio full moon eclipse of 2023? The Moon is in a difficult position but she has many good aspects to help her along so that we are not our own worst enemy. We celebrate the initiation we’ve already done rather than feel disappointed. We use letting go of old traumas, especially old family issues, to reset where we might be emotionally reactive or easily triggered. Thoughts are slow and languid so while we may experience technical setbacks or delays, we ought to be grateful for the increased time, so we allow extra time for things and don’t get frustrated. Lectures from self-styled gurus may stimulate anger so we must try to understand what is really bothering us about the situation.

We may feel high nervous energy but low physical energy. This moves us to how we can make this situation work for us and where to take advantage. We have good self-expression, and a renewed faith in what we started. We are inspired by the vision of a nice living situation, a strong support system, downtime, and enough money to sustain a good physical environment. We have access to our self-control and a revamped, disciplined approach. We are self-contained yet open to possibilities.

We laugh through the obstacle course, Radiantly Alive!

Sabian Symbol Scorpio 15: Children playing around five mounds of sand

Thoughts: the destination is ruled by Venus, who forms a five-petal star in her journey around the Sun. Like children, we play around with what could be.

Scorpio is said to represent the reproductive area and hips. The Happy Baby pose gently stretches, and it seems to go nicely with the Sabian symbol.

On April 20, we will have a second New Moon in Aries, and this will be a hybrid eclipse and a very rare type. This eclipse is a solar eclipse on a new moon, and this one points us toward the North Node. Manifesting destiny is right around the corner on our hero’s journey. We’re at the very end of Aries, the first sign, the Warrior that starts a job no matter what.

And what does the sky advise about this Aries new moon eclipse of 2023? We can be confident that we have started our new path right. However, the Moon, our body and emotions, likes to receive, here she is armed and dangerous. As Mars and the Moon have awkwardly exchanged homes, they will have to work together. We have the power to advance but we have to be sensitive to our surroundings. We must use the gift of patience and wise investment of energy. We eject what we must, creating propulsion so that our momentum carries us forward, smoothly, on its own.

What did we learn over the last few months about how energy gets wasted running around in too many different directions? It has been an important, maybe painful lesson. Now we wait to see what’s coming around the corner, or we will get stuck in mud moving too fast. Enough is enough of starting new things, it’s stressful. All doesn’t have to be perfect right now, we can review and revise soon. The seeds of success are already sown so don’t disturb them by overdoing it.

Set cruise control for a bit, and enjoy the wind on your face, Radiantly Alive!

“We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves.” ― Malcolm X

On April 6, we will have our Full Moon in Libra, the first full moon of the astrological year (which tells us Easter is the Sunday after it). Venus rules Libra, Cardinal Air, symbolised by the scales. The Moon needs to feel there is communication and rapport one-on-one so she can intuit the level of harmony and balance. At the full moon, she reflects the sun’s light from directly across the sky, allowing us to see where we’re at and feel into our body’s true signals. The Sun opposite in the sky, in Aries along with Chiron and Jupiter, is the hero who has healed his yang ability to initiate, to start things, to assert himself with confident hope, so the Moon in Libra must work to reflect those ingredients. She can succeed by being decisive yet diplomatic, and coming from a place of abundance. This axis represents the self-other axis.

What does the sky advise this Libra full moon of 2023? This lunation has some supportive, easy energy, for the first time in a while allowing us to feel into the give and take of relationships with less stress. If we take the opportunity to acknowledge our own value to ourselves with a promise to keep working on authentic self-love, and maintain a generous independence, then we can loosen our grip on others. This will nourish our relationships. Time together will be quality time where we will be fully present and this will be just the nourishment our one-on-one interactions will thrive on.

The ruler of this lunation, Venus, is in her home sign of Taurus. It will be of great value for us to see how our needs and tastes have evolved, now that some pressure has lifted from having to work on new plans, and there is more of a smooth, slower flow. Some of the confused fog has also lifted, the energy is less scattered. We take time with thoughts and words. We enjoy pleasures of the senses - nutritious tasty real food, sweet smells, luxurious touch, elegant cloth, harmonies. The desire for safety, stability, and good relating inspires us to take action. We must avoid acting moody, defensive or dependent but that shouldn’t be too hard as we can remember that we can do for ourselves, we just happen to like company. We are self-assured, cool, calm and collected. And together this makes for a successful combination.

This fortnight is great to enjoy a relaxing time and nice things, alone and with the ones we work and play well with.

We are unshakeably poised, Radiantly Alive!

Libra is said to represent the lower back and butt, and as Mars in Cancer trines Saturn, works on strengthening the spine and core for future protection.

On March 22nd, we will have our annual New Moon in Aries, and this degree happens to mark the start of the new astrological year. New moon, new ideas and manifestation. Our hero’s journey gets a burst of freshness.

Aries, Cardinal Fire, is the first sign of the zodiac, the Warrior that initiates bold action and takes no prisoners. Ruled by Mars, it wants to take the lead and be first.

The Sun loves it here and feels really special, as Aries encourages it to shine its light and be authentic. The Moon can feel a little uncomfortable in Aries as she wants to feel nurtured and emotionally secure, but the tools she has to do this is to put herself out there with independence and bravery. It can be a delicate balance to be the warrior but not feel selfish or aggressive, yet cut what needs to be cut and sprint off the starting blocks.

And what does the sky advise about this Aries new moon of 2023? As the Aries new moon this year comes just after the Spring Equinox, it really is an important time to find that balance, be assertive, and step boldly into a new dawn. We’ve been setting this up for so long. Lately, especially the previous week, some drama may have come up which was quite frustrating, and may not even make much sense. We still are not entirely sure how to overcome the confusion but deep down we understand and are ready to say our piece. The right actions will come later this week, subtle, not too out there, and our words and thoughts now align with our desire to move. How to do what we planned will reveal itself quickly as we strengthen and maintain our emotional core.

This month really is probably the most important of 2023 as it is so full of big changes, the first hints of what will last a very long time. Our desires are strong and earthy, excitement is in the air, wanting significant change, for something truly good and stable. The road feels open for the first time in a long long time, and our goals seem achievable. So this lunation, it is doubly important to have courage, move forward, to not resume the old bad habits or attachments we’ve dropped, and to not stay stuck in any mud.

Listen for the call and JUMP, Radiantly Alive!

— Alan Alda (Saturn in Pisces)

On March 7th, we will have our Full Moon in Virgo, the last lunation of the astrological year. Mercury rules Virgo, Mutable Earth, discerning and helpful, symbolised by the maiden carrying a shaft of wheat, free of want, ready to give. The Moon here represents an emotional need to feel like we’re growing in a way which is stable and prepared, though we must guard against being too self-critical. Virgo Moons are a time to intuit how to be useful, busy, analytical and practical. The Moon reflects the sun’s light from directly across the sky, allowing us to see what’s happened so far, letting emotional vision shine. The Sun opposite in the sky, in Pisces along with Mercury, is the hero who uses empathy, compassion and imagination, so the Moon in Virgo must work with those ingredients. It can succeed in an unusual, imaginative way. This axis represents the service-health and material-spiritual axis.

What does the sky advise this Virgo full moon of 2023? This lunation is a very important time to wrap up the astrological year but where Virgo and Pisces like to take their time, we have a supportive urge to go for it in a radical way, help from the latest innovations, and tension to act fast or else. What we have to remind ourselves is that we don’t have to accomplish the new tomorrow, we have time! Although the change will be radical, the results will not be immediate. Now is the time to dream big and wide but prepare for it by cleaning out the old forever.

We use the lunation 2 week period to remind ourselves that true dreams last, and they can be achieved with work and a plan. Oh and a plan B, and we’ll probably need a C and D later anyway. There will be plenty of time to build the new, as Saturn moves into Pisces literally an hour after the Full Moon goes exact, to stay there until 2026! In fact Old Father Time likes patience, hard work and overcoming obstacles. He rewards with return on investment, so we don’t get confused about what the urgent feeling is really telling us to do. It’s telling us to complete the foundation, focus on what we actually bothered to work on so far, and forget the rest for now. We know that with faith, we can sustain this long-term upgrade effort we’re starting. We will feel our way through the natural twists and turns and ups and downs on this journey.

The last few years have felt like a roller coaster. Now we prepare to turn that roller coaster into a new garden of fountains. We dare to dream, we have the tools we need, we got this, Radiantly Alive!

Sabian Symbol Virgo 17: A volcano in eruption

Nose breathing rather than mouth breathing improves gut health among many benefits. A great time to explore techniques! For example, box breathing.

On February 20th, we will have our annual New Moon in Pisces, and this one is another supermoon, as close to Earth as it gets, so very strong indeed. New moons are a time of new ideas and manifestation. The sun and moon are perfectly aligned, which allows us to get clear about our hero’s journey. In Pisces this is a fortnight to actively get rid of the old stuff we used to do or keep that no longer serves us, whether it’s memories, resentments, goals or that icy half tub of ice cream in the freezer.

Pisces, Mutable Water, is represented by two fish back-to-back, tied across the middle. Some people say one is material, one is spiritual, connecting the human to the divine. Being mutable, it can adjust emotionally to any situation. As the last sign, it absorbs everything which has come before, closes the loop, and prepares to begin again. Pisces honours the transcendent yet warns of getting lost in it - with escapism, madness, theatre, or delusion. It is the depth of the ocean, which in its highest form is service with wise compassion, through which we return to Source.

And what does the sky advise this Pisces new moon of 2023? We’ve been through a lot the last few years. We’ve faced down some demons, made some tough decisions, learned what to keep and what to throw. Now it’s time to truly let it go, because Spring is just around the corner, and we need to pack light. The Moon has just left Saturn where we were reminded of why we don’t want our old baggage anymore. A day or two after the new moon, she will meet up with Jupiter in Aries who will fill her up with faith in a new start, and energise her to make that leap, just do it. Close on those heels will follow a moment of healing, where we feel soothed that this time we can do it, the world is our oyster, and the future is now.

We begin by finally shedding our old skin, so we can jump like a kid into our new pool, Radiantly Alive!

Thoughts: we choose our path, so it doesn’t get chosen for us.

”Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”  Henry Ford

On February 6th, we will have our Full Moon in Leo. The Sun rules Leo, Fixed Fire, joyful on the stage, symbolised by the lion. The Moon here represents an emotional need to be recognised and acknowledged, especially for all we’ve given in the face of recent difficulty. Like the king of the jungle, it feels it must fight to keep its crown, but really just wants a wow, thank you. The moon reflects the sun’s light from directly across the sky, allowing us to absorb what’s happened so far, letting emotional vision shine. The Sun opposite in the sky, in Aquarius, is the hero who coolly and objectively honours the group’s needs, so the Moon in Leo must work with those ingredients. This axis represents the me-we polarity.

What does the sky advise this Leo full moon of 2023? This lunation is a very important time to take a moment to reflect amidst the chaos. It’s like a good coxswain of a rowing boat, who must get all the rowers into the same rhythm, and shout motivation, leading from the front. The lunation forms an aspect of friction with Uranus, a -t-square. This implies a sudden event that brings issues to the surface. We’ve been working with others to manage the change in the material world. Now we resolve our differences, inside of ourselves or out in the world.

One side feels emotional, like they are not seen or appreciated enough when they’ve done so much. And they might be loud about it. The other seems like they don’t care but really, they feel responsible for too many things. They’re just trying to make sure it all works for everyone in the end. The two sides must come together and find a compromise that feels like a win-win. They must agree on a way forward otherwise things may go backwards, which is a waste.  We’ve actually had a moment of clarity recently about what to fix and how, and we’ve felt the opportunity, even if it feels hard. Now we trust the process, and then quickly visualise the potential dreamy benefits within days. Yet wise and deep, we remember to keep our feet on the ground, a beautiful yet practical path.

Compromise will come together just fine, and in my gang I sparkle, Radiantly Alive!

On January 22nd, we will have our annual New Moon in Aquarius, and this one is a supermoon, as close to Earth as it gets, so very strong indeed. New moons are a time of new ideas and manifestation. The sun and moon are perfectly aligned, which allows us to be ourselves and put our heart in it. In Aquarius this is a fortnight to initiate a big picture idea, a vision of the future that we can absolutely commit to.

Aquarius, Fixed Air, is represented by the water-pourer. Being fixed, it can stay the course and weather any storm. As the last air sign, it is brilliant at connecting, with people and ideas. It is the inventor, the networker, the friend, the humanitarian, the genius. It pours life-giving water onto the land. Aquarius can cross distant mental horizons and reach its goal with wisdom and compassion.

Both the sun and the moon can feel awkward in Aquarius because they are personal planets whereas Aquarius is a bit distant and objective so they have to adjust. The sun is about my purpose, my light, now - but here must consider the group, the big picture, tomorrow. The moon likes a cuddle but is instead offered some great ideas and conversation. This however is a great opportunity to be your own psychologist and deal with any fear, anger or embarrassment that may have held you back.

And what does the sky advise this Aquarius new moon of 2023? This one is all systems go, and a little spicy. We start with radical self acceptance. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing we’re working on, it means we show gratitude to ourselves for being us, exactly as we are. Today, tomorrow and the day after that - body, mind, spirit and soul. No matter what’s happening around us, who’s saying what, who’s doing what. Because the opportunity is now here to really get moving on our own goals. There have been some words, some delays, some thinking and rethinking. There may even have been tears. But it’s not the time to bow to emotions, or I don’t feel like it or I can’t or what if. The universe is giving us a jump start, providing a long burst of energy, initiative and faith. The mind is now sharp: we know what to do, we know how to do it, and we can visualise it. This is the time to start the engine. Vrrrroooom!!

We have a big, strong vision and we move on it, Radiantly Alive!

“The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.” - Ralph Blum

On January 7th, we will have our Full Moon in Cancer, the first full moon of 2023. The Moon rules Cancer, Cardinal Water, symbolised by the crab, so this will magnify the energy. It represents emotional leadership, in tune with the cycle of life. Like a crab, it doesn’t move in a straight line but indirectly. Full moons are a time of completion and illumination. The sun’s light shines from directly across the sky and the reflected light of the moon is at its brightest, letting emotional vision flow. The Sun opposite in Capricorn, shines the light of practicality and determination to succeed, to manifest. This axis represents the feeling-doing polarity.

The moon in Cancer “feels the feelings”. What does the sky advise about this Cancer full moon of 2023? This lunation is a huge gift of intuition and understanding. Flashes of inspiration and awareness combine with the mental ability to go deep, to push through to the truth, to get to the bottom of things. Just before the full moon we may feel really inspired and then the memory of a past wound comes to mind. We want to start something, to take a chance, but we may feel reluctant because of an old bad experience, perhaps stemming from childhood.

Yet this full moon says look clearly at the past and present, take in the lessons, and here’s a fantastic chance to dream the future in a way we hadn’t even thought of before. Suddenly we can feel in our body and soul what it would be like to be on this different journey, and it clicks. There will be obstacles but now we know we’ll figure things out and we know that life will help us along. We will walk this new road we want to take; we will see where to focus; we will ask for, give and receive help; and we will budget our energy so we can spend on the important work.

We brightly create the seeds we’ll soon plant as we now truly feel it, Radiantly Alive!

“Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning.” ― Thomas Edison, inventor

On December 23rd, we will have our annual New Moon in Capricorn, and this one is a supermoon, super close to Earth so very strong. New moons are a time of new possibilities of what can manifest, new horizons. As the moon is not reflecting the Sun’s light to us, we can focus fully on our purpose, with emotions in alignment. It is a time for reflection, meditation. In Capricorn this is a fortnight to initiate something concrete in the outside world, to dream of a new path to solid goals.

Capricorn, Cardinal Earth, is represented by a strange creature, the mythical sea-goat. It can climb any mountain and when it’s time, it can melt into the ocean. Capricorn is actually quite a spiritual sign as it calls us to a great work. The work it calls us to is one that lasts, something special, inspired, an achievement. The Sun in Capricorn is patient, ambitious and hard-working. And it can have a great sense of humour too. The Moon in Capricorn can feel a little too serious, a feeling of safety and comfort in achieving things that society appreciates. Yet it teaches that true security comes from the inside, only from within.

And what does the sky advise this Capricorn new moon of 2022? It is the day after the solstice, the shortest day of the year. From now on, the days get longer. The hardest part seems over and it’s time to start planning for the future. Right before the lunation, the Sun and Moon squared Jupiter in Aries. This adds a tension, along with other aspects, of wanting to ditch everything that isn’t perfect, and chase after the shiny new vision, like a kid having fun. It can also add idealism, naivety, and make us go a little overboard.

There will actually be a whole bunch of planets in Capricorn to help stay focused. Our mind, thoughts, wants, needs are also cooperating, encouraging us to be serious and ambitious. As Pluto is still hanging out at the end of Capricorn, some people may also want to get to the bottom of mystery, like an investigator searching through the darkness. A trine to Uranus in Taurus adds inventiveness and innovation to the mix, inspiration to create something long-lasting, in balance with Mother Earth.

We are productive, not just busy, Radiantly Alive!
